Blade, our Veteran Helicopter takes action from the skies, leading our planes into the fight from above!

Mat, one of our newest recruits, has had many successful missions both on the ground and in the sky.

Drip, a stuntman smokejumper, parachutes in with Avalanche to remove logs with his skid-steer claw.
Dusty, part of our air attack team, scoops up water from a nearby lake with his pontoons and dumps it on the fire.

Mayday, our oldest team member.  Firefighter of the year 1968!

Avalanche has caterpillars for rough terrain and a blade for pushing debris down near the heart of the fire.

Fire Facts:

  • There are about 135,000 wildfires in the United States of America every year!
  •  Pieces of wildfire Fuel have the elements carbon and hydrogen in them. When Hot, (And it has to get very very Hot! over 700 degrees fahrenheit!) oxygen from the air reacts with the carbon and hydrogen in the fuel. Out Comes Energy... Fire!
  • There are three kinds of wildfires: ground fires, surface fires, and crown fires.
  • the pinecones of certain pines and conifers are sealed with resin. resin keeps the seeds shut in the cone. Wildfires create enough heat to melt the resin releasing the seeds. So wildfires actually help the trees plant new ones!
  • Flames from a fire can reach up to 300 feet high!
